Autumn Wraiths

Leaves, falling furiously,
swirl across the sky,
crimson and orange splashes
on washed-out, fuzzy flannel.
Grey clouds collide and cling
to great, dark branches in
the evening pallor.
Shadows are cast by
skeletons of trees.
The fog becomes their wraiths,
spirits of mercy,
blurred by all my tears.
