Kamikaze

My faith has fallen, no angel at my side, only cold steel, only disillusionment. There was a time when I believed the world was bright and shining, when all things were possible. There was a time when I had but to turn, and see his waiting smile.
But now, my angel has tumbled towards the darkness that is death, and all I have left is my sword, and the clean foolishness of championing others' causes now that mine is lost. Life means less to me as I watch his golden light grow dim, and I yearn to join him in his flight.
I know that I cannot gain the height of an angel, as I watch him from the ground, straining to burn into the sun, like a moth to a candle's flame.
